Seeking Passionate Actors for a Hilarious Rom-Com Adventure!
To stay true to the Rom-Com genre, we are looking for people that have a good feeling for timing. Timing can make the most dramatic line funny and witty. As we're crafting a short film, the canvas for dialogue is limited. Not every nuance of the story can be conveyed through words alone. We're on the lookout for individuals whose strength in acting shines just as brightly in moments of silence, where the unspoken speaks volumes. If you're good at showing feelings without words and making a scene come alive without just talking, we'd love to hear from you.
There are three roles that need to be filled. See descriptions below:
James (25-35), required availability: 4-5 shooting days.
Description: James is the main character of the short movie. We need him in every scene and shooting day. Meet James, a 35-year-old guy. He's not the tallest, but he's got brains, manners, a bit of uncertainty, and a hint of sadness in the mix. Living the typical five days a week on the job, and when the weekend rolls in, you'll find him knocking down pins at the bowling alley with His friend. For James, that's his sacred "me time" after a week of adulting, complete with a chilled beer in hand.
Now, enter Mary, his 33-year-old wife. High school sweethearts turned not-so-sweet cohabitants. They bicker about the most random things, and the fun seems to have taken a vacation from their relationship. James hates these arguments, and thanks to them, he's developed a fear of Mary. Life's not all sunshine and rainbows, but here's the kicker—they don't have kids, and James, despite being unhappy, hasn't mustered the courage to hit the exit.
Practicalities: We will need you on set for around 4-5 days. For a total of 11 scenes planned to be shot over these 5 days. We are a flexible team and able to work around your schedule. Your English speaking has to be close to fluent.
Mary (25-35), required availability: 2,5-3 shooting days.
Description: Mary is not so happily married to James. She is dominant, feisty, a little rude and very certain. The only thing she is not certain about is if James still loves her. The only times she does get his attention, is when her emotions take over. Resulting in either a breakdown or a fight. Besides the little time James spends with Mary he is busy with either work or his friends. Mary is uncertain about their future together. She wants to be seen without having to break down emotionally to make this happen.
Practicalities: We will need you on set for around 2,5/3 days. For a total of 6 scenes planned to be shot over 3 days. 2 scenes a day will most likely result in 3 half days of shooting. We are tough a flexible team and able to work around your schedule. Your English speaking has to be close to fluent.
Jack (25-35) available for one day.
You’ll be playing James, his best friend. You’ll be playing two bar scenes together with James.
Description: Meet Jack, the 36-year-old beanpole in James' crew. Towering in height, this guy's as skinny as a sapling. Jobless and wifeless, Jack's life revolves around one thing—drinks with his buddies. It's the highlight of his week, the one night he's got plans.
Now, here's the quirky twist. Jack might sound like he's spouting poetry and dropping wisdom bombs, but underneath that, he's a bit of a goofball. And you know what? That's exactly why his friends adore him. He's not about the serious stuff; he just cares that his pals are doing well. Jack, the poetic, silly, and downright lovable friend in the mix. Cheers to that!
Practicalities: You'll be needed for only a single shooting day for the two bar scenes. Your English has to be close to fluent.
